My Dear uncle!
Taslim! It is after a ‘Yuga’ that I venture to write to you. I have heard from my brother of your kindness and help to them. Unfortunate as I am, I have not been able to help them in any way except that I have given them Innumerable troubles. I have acquired every thing except wealth. So I am helpless to help even my ownself. I have sacrificed everything for my country or else I could be a rich man easily. From our childhood we have been taken care of by your kind family. In every drop of my blood flows your heavenly kindness and grace. It is only for these sympathy to the poor and oppressed that Allah has given you wealth, fame and peace. I do not know when Allah will take me to my native village to kiss the dust of your sacred feet. Wherever I live I remember you with deepest regards.
My elder brother২ is suffering from some sort of disease which you are the best judge of. Would you be kind enough to take charge of him earnestly as one of your patients? Please send me the bill for medicine etc. direct or through my brother to me and I shall promptly pay the amount to you, poor though I am. Hope, you will do the needful about him. Moreover I hear from my two brothers that some of my village brethren or rather relatives are against them and giving them much trouble. I with my brother seek shelter under you. You will kindly look after them and take necessary steps so that they may not be tortured by anybody. I appeal to you not only as magistrate and President of Union Board but as our ever kind patron and ‘Ashraya Data’ with lakh salam.
Affectionately yours
Nazrul Islam.
